What's more, Microsoft didn't ask Ensemble to make a Halo RTS. Ensemble has said that they worked on the control scheme for six months before they approached Microsoft with the idea of Halo Wars.

 

Infact, I heard Microsoft was wary, but said, "Sure, you can make a Halo RTS, but I swear, if you screw up a game with the Halo name on it, we'll axe your studio so fast, you'll be putting your stuff into boxes before it hits shelves."
