In Japan, OneChanbara is part of D3's Simple 2000 Series. The simple series started on the PS1 as just simple games for 1500 Yen. (Simple 1500 Series) Orginally it was just really simple stuff like Simple 1500 Series: The Chess, The Hanafuda, The Mahjong.
Later the simple series included more complex budget games with werid ideas. Like OneChanbara, Earth Defense Force, or The Large Beautiful Woman.
D3 said they couldn't continue the Simple Series on the PS3/360, likely because of the cost. However they'll keep making the series for the Wii. I'm hoping for EDF 4 on the Wii myself.
