What you are saying is true BrainBox, but I think they might for a couple of reasons.
Firstly the Wii's momentum is not as strong in Japan as elsewhere so Nintendo will want to do what they can to turn that around and second Nintendo is very agressive about protecting their position in the market from competitors and as such will want to stay 'ahead' of the competition (see E3 2008 for proof of this, basically everything they did there was a reaction to rumors of a xbox motion controller.)
