Is there anything new for the Deathmatch centric FPS? Sure the graphics could be upgraded, but mods pretty much take care of anything else you would want from the games. New weapons, maps, etc. The new 'in thing' is about large battlefields and team oriented games. And while UT2004 has some large battlefields, they are not completely open(ala Tribes), but they do offer significant gameplay differences to the indoor maps. It looks like Quake Live might be something up your alley, but it appears the FPS genre has outgrown the indoors deathmatch FPS.

Oh man, did you say UT was only about tight corridors? How about the following maps:
Albatross, Antalus, Matallurgy, Morpheus, that forest one,.
and these are just off the top of my head. I know there's a lot more. Especially in Onslaught which is very heavily oriented. The only reason the new "in thing" is those, get-shot-twice-and-die-and-use-teamwork-as-an-excuse games is because they are slower and most people can't handle the fast games, which require just as much teammwork, but also a very high amount of personal skill (which is far less sginificant in the slower games).
