You guys are aware that many of the portable MH's saw quite a few rereleases and repackages, so I believe F had like 3 versions and G for the PS2 had 2 versions, MH 2 didn't even see a repackage. The second one for G was something about PS2 being the best. Either way public interest grew because Capcom made a huge effort on the marketing side, the game didn't just pick up because it went to portable.
Capcom invested a lot into the marketing, the more noted one because it's on the Wii and even one that should be fresh in the memories of those who were paying attention for 2GF was that MH PSP model (which is now out of date V_V) which saw a huge jump in PSP sales, and the MH VC controller bundle.
O.o Just saying the Wii version will only be recognized as far as Capcom pushes it.
