The question really is "are the 'hardcore' people likely to lose their employment less than any other group?".
One can make up indirect scenario's like "hardcore more likely to sacrifice other things"; try my one:
"The hardcore will likely to be most affected as they will be asked by their mothers to finally pay rent for the basement they are living in".
This is just another silly scenario, but takes from the age demographic and panders to the nerd image of traditional videogamers.
