As much as I hate, it's true.  I'm in the media and we all know it.

I've had some very heated discussions with friends of mine in the media industry because they rate Wii games low simply because the game's target audience is lower aged or the genre doesn't appeal to them.   Some of them are told to do this by their EIC's.

 

I just talked with a publisher the other day about this and it pisses off their development teams because a lot of bonuses are paid based on Metacritic and GameRankings scores.

Wish I were.   The point of that tactic is to gain a stronger following of their own target audience and appease publishers that pay premium ad space.
