Let's compare with VGChartz:

First hardware, I'm using LTD numbers from week ending 02nd January 2009 for VGChartz, numbers in million of units.

Wii worldwide Wii Japan Wii Americas Wii Other DS worldwide DS Japan DS Americas DS Other
VGChartz estimates 45,55 7,67 21,08 16,79 97,12 25,49 32,08 39,54
Nintendo shipment 44,96 7,80 20,40 16,76 96,22 25,67 31,93 38,62

One thing I'm not certain of, does Nintendo include the DSi in the the totals?

Based on this, it looks like VGChartz has Wii and DS slightly overestimated (about 1m too high for each, something like that?) Not even Nintendo can sell more than they ship!

For Wii it is probably closer to 2 million. One million for the Americas (close to sellout and in line with NPD's December numbers). And around 800k million in Europe, considering it wasn't sold out there and we got an article stating Nintendo sold through 14.2 million Wiis in Europe at the end of 2008.

DS is overtracked in Others, to be honest I have no idea if it was easily available there at the end of 2008. The Americas is a bit too high as well, although I remember reports about shortages there as well. So it might only be a few 100k too high there. Overall probably also overtracked by around 1.5-2 million units.
