It's not so much that FF:CC was bad so much that it simply wasn't... good.

Before that it was Rocketeer for the SNES.

my biggest complaint about the game, is that you had to have 3 GBA's if you wanted to play with others. I got the game cause I thought it was multiplayer

Ditto.  Literally, ditto.

I was expecting Secret of Mana like co-op that I could play with a couple friends.  The game itself was meh-worthy, but being able to play it with others would have made it worthwhile.  I didn't realize it required the GBAs until I had a couple of friends over and we couldn't get multiplayer working. 

 

I forgot about that game.  I was really disapointed by it.  I was expecting a more traditional RPG.  I wish I knew what it was like before I got it.
