As RMC on Gonintendo said, "I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt."
Capcom have already hinted at some kind of RE spinoff coming to Wii. Could be RE:UC 2, could be something else. Probably has more to do with millions of units worth of Resident Evil games selling on the platform than any petition, though.
