@Rocketpig: I don't think they hurt them. Nintendo has been doing it for ages already, think about Mario Party, Eternal Darkness, Geist and what others there is. It's pretty common and the next Halo game is made in the same fashion.
Brawl wasn't developed by Game Arts, but it was done in the same fashion anyway - Nintendo pays for others to develope the game.
