Another (probably simpler) solution would be to route your connexion from the network through your laptop to your wii. Maybe use a Nintendo Wifi dongle for an easy setup.

That doesn't work, not with wireless connection at least. The Wii does not support ad-hoc wireless connections (such as those made between laptops), it only supports connecting to a router. At least that's the way it used to be. I know because I tried to do just that, before I got a router.

With the LAN adapter it's probably possible.
