For someone who is sarcastincally trashing Sony, in terms of innovation, you sure are an advocate of a company who rehashes the same games year after year after year after year.

Here's one guarantee: In 15 years, if Sony and Nintendo are still making consoles, there will be a Mario or Zelda on the Nintendo console. On the Sony console...who knows? And that's the beauty of it. You'll be guaranteed to enjoy new IPs, rather than have the same game for the past billion years be the reason you bought the console

That's just a sign of how awesome Nintendo is with their franchises.  Sony would kill to have that kind of lasting quality. 

Remember, SM64 came out when the franchise was already well over a decade old.  And was it not innovative?  It fucking revolutionized and set the gold standard for 3D platforming.  Just because it's still the same Mario saving the same Princess Peach from the same Bowser, does that somehow blind you to the fantastic new gameplay in each iteration of the Mario franchise?  It is not the "same game". 

BTW, I'm not knocking Sony for adopting a great control scheme, I'm just saying they didn't come up with it on their own.
