Microsoft's threat from gaming consoles is whichever company has the balls to put Linux on its machine...while having it sell 100m units or whatever. That used to be Sony, now its Nintendo....but Microsoft doesn't want to/can't really justify buying either (one is too expensive, the other is too inefficient and unwieldly)
