I think I'm well known, but not as much as my post count would make it seem (Grampy said a month ago that he had never heard of me 
).
But I'm probably best known for being the most ardent Suikoden fan here...and also the most ardent Dragon Quest VIII hater.
The biggest problem I have is that since I don't have any next-gen console, I usually can't participate into the debates, that limits my exposition
As for the avatar, no, I change it from time to time, and I don't think I've been particulary associated with any of them
