The Wii will be three years old on the third anniversary of its release - in about ten months. Until that time, it is in its third year.

This is the correct reasoning.

For instance I am 21 years old.
I am in my 22nd year.

I was born in 1987 though, which spans 23 calendar years... but that does not put me in my 23rd year until I pass my birthday in this year..... something many seem to fixate on is the importnce of calendar years, like with Crazzymans thread comparing PS2 and 3 sales.
