The question in the OP is this.

Assume you are a Wii only owner, and there is a version of FFXIII coming to the Wii. Would you buy an HD console to play that version instead, if you only own a Wii up to that point?

 

Looks like I misinterpreted. In that case, it would make sense to just get it for wii.

I'm not a wii-only owner though but thats what I'd do if I was one. JRPGs don't have online or anything super that could only be done on HD consoles and end up gimping the wii experience significantly.
