Only for so long.  The democrats don't have the best record with actually helping the poor.

Most likely they'd end up being replaced by a third party.

A national holiday on election day would be nice.  Though even then i'm not sure that'd raise voter turnout that much.

Am I crazy, or in the wrong thread, or did this used to say something else? 

To respond to what it says now, they did a whole crapload of stuff in the New Deal era, and that's what most people seem to think is the sort of direction things are going to go.
