Gaming div seems safe nuff, they probably know damn well what will happen and when they will break even on the PS3 hardware.

The other divs have their ass over a frying pan, electronics especially.

UPDATED: Sony restructuring will not affect European games arm

Gaming div(other than European divs) might get on that frying pan too. ;P

SCEA should be safe.  Their developers in general produce more big hitting franchises than SCEE (God of War, Uncharted, Jak & Daxter - though Killzone 2 may swing the tide in SCEE's favor).

I could see SCEI being affected in some ways.  Lowering R&D on future consoles/handhelds, axing some of those 2nd party contracts with oddball developers for extremely niche titles that'll never leave Japan (that horse sim, among others).

You make some good points but bear this in mind: that's not how corproate politics work and doubly-so in a very Japanese corporation with a Westerner at its head--the Japanese managers are going to demand that some blood be spilt from the foreign divisions, even if it's counter-productive (and they'll get it, too).

Also note: I am not saying entire divisions will be cut from SCEA et al, but there will be lay-offs, have no doubts about that--Sony has way, way too much fat to trim to spare them completely.
