Sometimes, threads appear that ask questions that seem so obvious, I suspect they must be rhetorical. Why is the Wii selling so well? Is the classic one here on VGC, as if the obvious answer of "because people like it and want to play games on it" isn't satisfactory.

Obvious answer time: this is a series that exploded with Call of Duty 4. It is still the most highly regarded iteration of the series by a wide margin. That version of the game did not exist on the Wii. It would be like giving Nintendo systems GTA 1, GTA 2, but not GTAIII/VC/SA/IV, and then being surprised that the system seems to have fallen behind in GTA sales once GTAV hits. Of course it has! This should be obvious! Any GTA fans that picked the Nintendo console would have long since moved over.

That's the situation the Wii is in. It's not a bad platform for shooters, it's just that every company in existance spent a gazillion dollars establishing the shooter fanbase on the PS3/360. Whether that was a financially savvy move or not is no longer relevant: what's done is done. It would be stupid to now spend another gazillion dollars to convince the PS3/360 fans that the new "king" of shooters is the Wii.
