Except the DSi isn't a direct replacement for the DS Lite, they will keep selling both

 

Im not sure about that, I think the DSi is there to combat piracy as you can't use the R4 chip with it.

 

Well you should be sure because Nintendo have said that is the case. There are games like Guitar Hero that require the GBA slot and they continue to sell the DS Lite in Japan along side the DSi.
