Also, Z rating games, equivalent in Japan to AO in America (including governament mandated restrictions, etc), do make it to consoles. Case in point, Dead Rising on the Xbox 360.

Situation is not much diferent in Europe, where violent games like GTA were rated 18+ and still sold pretty much everywhere. This is in contrast to series like RE that have always been 16+. Finally, somethings hentai could easily get rated 16+.

This way of rating sex related stuff (vs. for instance violence) is really an American oddity. Hardware makers refusing to sell games with certain ratings, is another American oddity (probably due to liability considerations).



Reality has a Nintendo bias.
