Why would we celebrate? Snes is 10X the console Wii has been up to this point...

In what sense?

Snes was on top of the gaming world from 1994 to 1996 with some of the best software ever released. Any type of game you liked...Snes had 10 games worth playing for that genre. There are atleast 30 classic games I can name off the top of my head for the Snes.

Wii thus far will be remembered for

Mario Galaxy

Zelda TP

Metroid Prime 3

Smash brothers Brawl

Mario Kart Wii

Wii Fit

Wii sports

Anyting else Im missing?

You know you are in trouble when 3 of the 8 AAA games for the system are ports of last gen games. (zelda, RE4, Okami)

ok, now name all the great SNES titles from its first 26months? That would mean be until about Jan 1993 (assuming the SNES had a holiday launch in Japan) ok I will try

  1. Mario World
  2. Mario Allstars (port of older games, so add the VC in your list)
  3. FF4
  4. Zelda alttp
  5. Mario Kart
  6. Street Fighter 2
  7. F-Zero (not in same class as others above)

um, ok I was a kid then, but that is what I came up with, might be some others SE

might have missed one, but as you can maybe the SNES was a tad better early but the Wii is at least on Par. 1993 was a good year for the SNES, but 94,95,96 were the golden years, when most of the classics landed.

2009 (eq to 1993 for snes) is looking to be a good year for the Wii, but I think SW wise 2010 and 11 will be golden.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
