@Alby: Yes. That's the way it works. You'll also have to report between each intervals how much shares you own and if you want to buy (or sell) a big enough slice, it must be made as a public bid.
So basically you can keep buying a company a little bit at a time, you just can't do it silently.
Every public bid has an impact on stock price and if the impact is big enough for the price to go above the bid, the shareholdelrs are likely to turn the bid down.
