I bought this day 1, returned it for full cash-back day 2. I have quite a few reasons.
No challenge - Within 6 hours of the game, I earned 740 achievement points. This includes the 15 headshot kills in a multiplayer match. That was the hardest one and it took me 2 matches.
Glitchy Gameplay - The game was riddled with glitches, several a minor inconvenience, others being game breaking. If I back stab someone and magically slide towards my death at the hands of another player because the game's code is designed to prevent clipping on objects during animations? Not my fault, the games.
Slow, Boring, and Repetitive Gameplay - While I was hoping for a Star Wars Battlefront experience, I was left wanting due to the repetitiveness of the game's missions. Often it was, capture point 1, Defend point 1, Rally to point 2, and repeat until boss shows up defeat boss and repeat next mission.
Exploitable Multiplayer - I often do this in the demo with my buddy, but for example. Being a troll, you can actually push allies forward. What does this mean exactly? Well, if a mage is using a shield, its balanced so that he moves slowly. But if a troll is pushing him? Well, obviously now the mage can't die to melee, and the troll can't die to range. Teamwork? Or broken game play?
Anyway, that's just a few reasons. This game deserves those rankings, I'm a big fan of lord of the rings and the Star Wars Battlefront series. But this game, as a representation of Lord of the Rings and Pandemic's development skill? Fails in every category. There's bigger bang for your buck here folks. Killzone 2 and Star Ocean 4 are just around the corner.
Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
