Haha good to hear. 
I mean, when I first came in contact with the final boss in Sonic 2, I was absolutely intimidated. That thing was huge!
But the whole ending to Sonic & Knuckles blew away all expectations. First we had a battle against Robotnik in the same vein of the original game's final boss. Then we had to fight his largest and most jawesome creation yet (when he first fired the laser from the Master Emerald... It blew my mind). And finally (whew) you had the chance to fight him through space as Super Sonic.
Epicsauce filled with Peanut-win.
