Fable and Zelda go for relatively different directions. Both are fantasy games with worlds of depth and well-drawn characters, but Fable is to Zelda (loosely) as GTA is to Crazy Taxi. Fable tries to be more badass, and tries to do more with it's open-endedness, aside from the fact that Fable is far more involved with it's skill development system

 

Zelda, however, triumphs through the same method that many Nintendo games triumph: depth through simplicity. The simple hook, the basic story, pulls you in, while the depth underneath keeps you there
