One thing that is absolutely unquestionable is that BD is becoming less valuable for the PS3 as costs for players come down. It's no longer the cheapest way to get a BD player and now it is even cheaper to get an Xbox 360 + BD player than a PS3.
One of my friends just ordered an Xbox 360 + rockband 2 from Dell for $195 shipped. Xbox 360 is remarkably cheap, this year BD will become even cheaper than it has been.
As far as games are concerned, 2008 was a pretty good year for the PS3. Saying 2009 will be better is based entirely on speculation. Wait until the games come out and are actually better.
