c0rd, your logic makes all the sense in the world and I applaus you for it but look at the big picture. Nintendo hasn't done anything coming even close to saying "thanks 3rd parties, we are happy to have you", and the only one they care about is sega.
For a company that literally prints money, you would think that maybe they would invest in some third party core titles like sony and ms do.
But no, they do the opposite. Their strategy is to do what they want and let the companies come to them. Great business strategy, yes. But to me, it's arrogant, and shows me a "fine, we don't need it" attitude.

About your list.
First of all, you can get most of their release games for ~35$ so already they are 15-20$ cheaper than a wii game. Secondly, being portable is a big plus, so even a decent DS game trumps a slightly better console game.
Let me show you the reason DS is doing so well.

stuff like this. Stuff like this has turned the DS into the cheapest computer available. You can type on it, you can learn languages, you can busy yourself, train your brain, train your body, make appointments, make friends, play wirelessly online interact with things, long battery life and lots of support.

And 90% of this costs just 30$ per ability.  These three games pictured each replace a standalone with similar function. The first is 2000 japanese characters with stroke order and drawing pad for practice, replacing 300-700$ electronic dictionaries by casio and others.

The second and third? Paper in electronic form, with hundreds of hours of use. The DS has some fucking insane value. 30$ for something you could end up using for 6 years... Tell me the wii has this because it doesn't. Note: This is also why I am more than a little upset about the DS, less support, less compatibility, less battery, less games, more money.

The DS is a success because you can see the value and opportunity. It can replace pretty much anything you can write on using a pencil. Although the DS has games, it is also a tool. The wii instead replaces the actual activity as well as the equipment ....

Plus the DS is easy to develop for and so it has much more support from independants. The wii is relatively hard to program to get the wand function down.

However, blaming the devs is not the solution, because the same kind of awesome-ness is just not there. Also, you have listed some great games, at least triple the amount of what I would call core games than exists on the wii.

About the us vs them. It's true. Wii supporters have some twisted logic sometimes, so does everyone but I don't get in nearly as many arguments with others. I am a future Wii supporter. We are all in the same boat, but I know when to say that something is messed up with the games situation on the wii, and I don't try to twist the circumstances to make ps3 look better.
