I fixed it!
I yanked the button up really high until it got stuck, and I blew in it really hard, and it didn't help. So I pulled the button high and got it stuck again, and then just shook the hell out of it and flicked the button really hard several times, and then put it back in place and it works like a dream.
There was something nasty in there that I had to get loose I guess.
