This isn't PR spin, it's fan spin, but it shouldn't be. Being in a competition doesn't mean anything. They are doing well in their own market which just so happens to be gaming.
Its like clothing stores. Limited Too isn't competing with big and tall but they make a lot more money.

(I think) This is all because wii owners are afraid to admit that they aren't competing because they want to still be called gamers, even though they are obviously gamers.

 

I think there is less competition between Nintendo and MS/SONY because of the motion control itself.  Your argument is about games vs non-games (or gamers vs non-gamers).  While the Wii may have a larger than typical non-gamer segment as its userbase the gamer segment is larger.  Just because Nintendo has been targeting non-gamers with some key titles to expand its market, doesn't mean there aren't plenty of games they and others have released that apeal to actual gamers.

i just don't feel the same way you do. I think the games are lacking in quality, quantity, and substance, but that's my opinion.
Not enough features, too expensive, and consistency is spotty.
