Nintendo fans calling for the downfall of hardcore gaming, why?

I think that by hardcore gaming (those ninty-fans who actually say that kind of stuff) they mean hd-consoles. Don't know why they wish hd-gaming would die, could it be because they want every single game on their favourite platform?
