OT: heck yeah I love America. Yeah, we aren't perfect by a long shot, but there's no other country I'd reather live in. (none even comes remotely close) Also, about the unusual levels of patriotism here, a friend of mine who used to live in the UK told me that she really liked how all the Union Jacks were flying everywhere when Queen Elizabeth had her golden jubilee. Then she came back here and she's like: it's like that in the US all the time. Also, when I was a cashier at a grocery store in a college town, I had more than a few foreign students ask me what national holiday was coming up in like February or August because they thought there must be some holiday soon because of all the American flags everywhere. (heck, in my home town they even have a flag on top of the power station...)
