Well from a business standpoint, the conference made complete sense. They showcased games on a massive stage because they know 'casuals' wouldn't do their own homework. Nintendo knows that big profile games don't need a huge conference like E3 to become successful, instead focusing on games directed at people who don't scour the internet for the next great game.
