I have an 8 year old niece who'd be very upset if High School Musical didn't exist. Why should it bother me that she can find games to enjoy on the Wii? Although I did feel slightly embarrassed taking 'My Horse & Me' up to the cashiers desk the other day.
And WTF is a hardcore gamer? I've been playing video games for over 20 years and never even heard this term until a year ago... I suspect it's someone who lives at home well into their thirties, has never had a girlfriend and still gets involved in playground-style 'mine's better than yours' debates.
I've always been a casual gamer, right from when I was 'casually' playing on my brothers Amiga in the late 80s, through the nineties when I casually played on Sonic, Doom, Quake, Nights, Wipeout etc. It's supposed to be fun and not taken too seriously - gaming IS a casual activity.
I'm a casual gamer!
