Nintendo fans say a lot of controversial* things, like: "the market is expanding," or "casual vs. hardcore is a false dichotomy," or "different people have different tastes, which are equally valid," or "girls & old folks should be allowed to game, too."

That's funny. You're the one that says that stuff. That doesn't mean all Nintendo fans are this reasonable. There are some crazy Nintendo people out there and you know it.

Well, yeah, there are crazies on all sides, no doubt.  But I think that there are differences in the "mainstream," accepted arguments that the sides use.  That casual gaming sucks and is destroying life as we know it is so common, it's cliche.  You don't have to be a "crazy" fanboy to say such a thing & get a lot of agreement.  But I don't hear that same kind of thing coming out of the mainstream of Wii fanboys...

Or, maybe people do make those arguments, on other sites or in person?  I don't know.  I just know what I see in these forums, and I don't find any of the Wii supporters that anyone would listen to calling for the death of hardcore gaming.
