My cousin (a few months older than me so not exactly a girl) bought a DS, she bought Nintendogs and loves it (and Mario Kart and a couple of other decent [to us gamers] games).
She also bought Catz, and some game about fashion... and hated them.
Quality speas for itself... a game can still be a great game even if it is about fashion design, but Ubisoft don't put the effort in, limited options and poor menus are as equally noticable by new gamers as old.
