Well those quotes make sense too... If the business environment is the same next year, Sony won't have the first two profitable quarters it had this fiscal year. This will likely mean a $4-$6 billion loss for the year by simple extrapolation.
That's the point at which Sony may start running low on cash (they had around $7-8 billion as of the last report) so they really have to do something quick (probably announced this or next month).
