Nintendo is singled out because they are the worst of the three. PS3 is region free, so I don't see why any Sony fans can be complaining on that, if a game is late for you, you can just import it (and end up paying half the price)

Nintendo have always treated Europe and Australia as third class countries and it has meant that historically they perform badly there. Hopefully things start getting better soon, we were the second country after Japan to get the DS Lite, I thought that was a signal that Nintendo would start giving us a better time of it but I was clearly wrong...

I could be wrong, but Nintendo was the first one to make it a standard in their games that the black stripes at the top and the bottom of the screen are eliminated. Also, they were the first to implement an optional 60 Hz mode in their games as a standard.

Not really relevant for this discussion, but Nintendo's screentext translations into the german language are the best any company offers.

really? then do we get black bars and games running slowly on our virtual console?

My friend spent $15 to purchase Ocarina of Time, a game which I recommended, and it's almost unplayable as it feels like Link is running through Jelly

Because VC games are emulations and just that?

The things I was getting at in my post were the black bars were eliminated in the N64 days (Star Fox 64 being the first) and the 60 Hz option was added in the GC days (SSBM was the first, although Pikmin one month later lacked the option).

OoT on the VC should have no black bars, but runs in 50 Hz if emulated correctly. Of course in these days that plays slow and awkward.

While most titles on the VC are 1:1 emulations of the original games there are a few games like F-Zero and Super Probotector in which the black bars have been eliminated as well. But what was 50 Hz back then, still is today.

I played OOT on N64 at 50Hz and it ran just fine. Why does it run like crap on the Wii, which does support 60Hz, by the way (changing the Wii to 60Hz mode doesn't fix the matter).

I'm sorry, but it is NOT difficult to have OOT running full speed on the Virtual Console, Nintendo just hasn't done it. They can emulate the PAL version at 50Hz or the N64 version at 60Hz or even just drop 5/6ths of the frames for all I care, but instead the game runs at a slow pace. Why? It's clear, Nintendo doesn't give a shit about PAL gamers.
