Marketing and Media Exposure are completely different, namely the latter costs SEGA no money. Maybe this is more then God Hand and Okami ever got, but will Mad World win the GOTY awards and host of excellent reviews Okami received? They're all examples of just press hype.

As for marketing, I don't think we know how SEGA will tackle this. SEGA have said they intend to push Mad World, but what else were you expecting them to say?

As to your first paragraph, this is a good point, though the amount of press hype that Mad World has gotten has turned into hyp amongst user-generated content too, like different user videos and GameTrailers and the like. What little exposure they've used has generated a fair deal of word-of-mouth, considerably more than Okami and (especially) God Hand. "Press hype" isn't the only worry here.

As to the second... well, they could just be like Capcom, who made no such promises and did nothing thereafter.
