There's a couple factors that should be considered.

1. The 360 post-launch had massive shortages all the way till April in the US, and even in Europe there were shortages. PS3's launch allocation in America was also pathetically small.

2. 360 sells jack shit in Japan. Though this factor is less of an issue since PS3 at one point was flirting with 360 level sales in Japan too.

3. Massive Euro launch of PS3, and it came late.

4. Both are way too expensive. Still.
