They announced the public Windows 7 Beta wuld be up for download today with "only" 2.5 million download slots in total. But they didn't specify a time. My thought exactly. Practically they're encouraging the use of torrents and such. What good is an open yet limited beta if you can get it despite the limitation without any drawbacks? I'm not sure but I suppose the beta doesn't even have online activation or anything like that, unlike the retail versions. Even if it does, it gets cracked pretty fast.

Yes; actually the build leaked a week before today. The reason to get it officially is that a) it won't suddenly break due to updates and b) they gave Vista beta users a free copy of Vista Ultimate at the end...

 

Maybe I should be more eager to get into this beta then :P
