The difference between Steven L. Kent and others (like Bruce on games) is that Kent has credentials. He made a bad call and at least is doing a semi mea culpa.

He also wrote entries on video games for Encarta and the Encyclopedia Americana.

It's nice to see that he has credentials, but this article, at least, doesn't reflect any of them, and as an "apology"...Let's just say it's about on-par with the worst of the Wii trolling posts, at best.

Agreed. It shows that people who should know better don't. It also may show that since Kent has been focusing on novels lately that maybe he is (a) too caught up in technology (he writes military science ficition) and (b) not up-to-date with current gaming trends.

It also shows that while I sometimes disagree with Chris Kohler at Wired that he does get things better than a lot of people do.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
