I predict that 2009 will be the year that PS3 finally becomes relevant in Japan. They've got some huge releases coming this year such as Naruto in January, Demon's Souls + Street Fighter IV + Yakuza 3 in February, Resident Evil 5 + Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete/Final Fantasy XIII Demo in March, and finally Final Fantasy XIII + Gran Turismo 5 in Q4.
I have a feeling that Japan is going to start being PS3's equivalent to the 360's America. That being a region where they beat 360 by around 30,000 every week.
