i could see an upgrade in ways that wouldn't effect games. like a wii with some of that stuff like say 10 gigs of flash memory, a camera so that people might actually use the photo channel, wii speak and wii motion plus included. the internet capabilities i don't think need any hw upgrade, nintendo just needs to change their online policies. an upgrade of this sort would be no different than the numerous different versions of 360's and ps3's that ms and sony have gone through in the past two years. it'd be no different than the ds lite or dsi. just an upgraded system with better features but that plays all the same games in the exact same way.
i could see them dropping the price of the current wii model to $200 if they were to launch a new model like this. of course i could also see this not happening at all since nintendo doesn't do this sort of thing with their home consoles, only their portables.
