ssj12, DTS is fairly important to me because the way I see it is if I'm upgrading to the best in picture quality, wouldn't I also want the best in sound? Not to mention the DVD player I have now has DTS decoding so it would almost seem to silly to "downgrade" in sound in a sense. I just feel if I'm upgrading, sound is part of the equation.
| ChronotriggerJM said: Picture quality is a HUGE issue that really forces me into blu-ray. If you have under a 40" tv, you'll probably notice color difference, and "some" clarity, not much, but some. Around 40" you start to really see the difference as DVD's start looking pretty mucky. Anything bigger than a 50" and you can pretty much forget about DVD's... The picture just get's stretched entirely too far and it's just horrible. If you have an HD TV and aren't using a DVD upscaler, then I feel REALLY bad for you. The difference is just obscene. |
I bought the DVD player I use now a year ago or more and didn't have a HDTV then but it was an upscaler though. However, it only does to 1080i, not p. So I have HD, just not the best. That's another reason I want a Blu-Ray player. I need something to go along with my 46" HDTV. Though I wish I had waited a little on that too since the newer 120h TV's are ridiculous. I saw those and started to drool a little bit.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
