Actualy it far surpasses LBP. LBP is nothing more than a simple level-editor, something we've had for 2 decades. It's extremely simple actually. A 2 year-old can make a level in LBP, in fact a 6 month baby could too if you taught it how to press the buttons and move the stick. Meanwhile this lets you MAKE new games, and nothing will come out of it without some thinking. It's far more powerful than LBP.

Your comparing two absolutely differnent "games" with entirely different end goals in mind and yet throw around words such as "far surpasses" when describing the two. I believe we've already had a discussion like this so I won't reiterate, but *sigh* you just don't understand anything about LBP, it's goals, or it's implications. Next, let's compare cars and skateboards because they both have wheels. Shall we?

 

As for this game it looks great for what it's providing but I don't really think it was too much inspired by LBP. They are entirely different beasts alltogether.

 

Its goals and implications are very simple actually, and that is to bring the "community" feeling that has existed on the PC over to the PS3, in that it hass succeeded, but that doesn't make it anything more than a level-editor with community distribution, which have existed on the PC since the DOOM.  Thinking it's anything else is a fail on your part. That or ignorance, I'll leave it up to you to pick which one.

That and bringing easy to use tools with almost endless possibilities to a more mainstream audience and with a presentation, style and flair that is unique and can not be found in any of those other pc games you mentioned. In addition there is a strong family and friends theme with four player co-op and is a great and addicting game right out of the box. I have played this game with countless friends and family members who became instantly engrossed in the fun and excitement provided by the title. There are plenty of ways to screw each other over and laugh and mock each other's deaths. It's through the style and presentation of the title that players become engrossed in the experiance. It's the same thing that seperates a mediocre shooter from the AAA shooters. Presentation, implementation, fun aspect, etc. I've seen games with more features score lower then games of the same genre with fewer features because of the quality of the titles and their presentation. Who care's how much you can do with something if your not having fun? And LBP has fun galore in everything it brings to the table. Charisma is what it's got going for it, and charisma is exactly what gets people elected president or in positions of power. It's that important. In addition I could be wrong but it has the largest community and still growing of any game of it's type. So I think you need to recalculate your stance on LBP because your obviously missing some digits in those calculations.

THAT is endless possibilites, not some bullshit level editor. BTW, the UE2.0 came free with purchase of UT2004, and you could make anything you wanted as long as you didn't charge for it (otherwise you had to license the engine from Epic).

And while I have conceded the 4 player co-op from the couch point( as you should already know since you seem to have been reading all my LBP posts), the community is also actually dwarfed by SPORE's, who's idea of sharing is the same as LBP's (except it was being talked about before LBP was even in existance). Here are some statistics, directly from their database:

Total number of creations uploaded: 62356259

Total number of users: 2444893

For a quick refresher, you are allowed only 1 account per game of SPORE, also those numbers don't include the 1.7 million pirated copies of the game (http://torrentfreak.com/top-10-most-pirated-games-of-2008-081204/ , notice that that's from Dec, 4th, which is just 3 months after its release, so add another month to that since then). LBP, can't even begin to touch the community of SPORE.

LBP shall always remain the first successful level-editor (and nothing more) with a successful community behind it on a console, but that doesn't mean it's anything new or innovative (maybe for consoles it is).
