Two hardcore franchises both in their fourth installment isn't a very good comparison to make against a new IP, those games are incredibly front loaded. Having said that, WKC sales are pretty good, especially considering the score it got in Famitsu.

 

 

Which in a way is even better news.  The fact that DMC4 is a strong, hardcore franchise on its 4th installment in Japan makes the sales of a new IP like WKC's even more impressive since it has passed DMC4's two week sales.  Points to decent lifetime sales in Japan.
