The fact is just that many English languaged press rated Halo 3 as being an outstanding title, but another fact is that there's an awful amount of disappointment outed by buyers on the internet who view the game as being closer to average (including some buddies of mine).

Mike your hatred is losing it's advantage, and your jealousy is fueling hostility...something tells me you wouldn't have the same stance should the general concensus reflect the majority of PS3 exclusive games more favourably.  Maybe that's why you're eternally the conspiracy theorist with your claims of bias in the media, playing the Sony is a victim of the facist domination of Microsoft's evil stronghold over media publications card.  Personally I think you spout off more bias with your own prejudices in your defensive stance against anything not labelled with the 'Sony' badge than those you're accusing.

I would imagine your buddies sharing your sentiments on measuring a game's quality - if it doesn't push the technology to it's extreme limits means it's mediocre, right? How can they possibly get away with screwing us out of 80p? Was the question ever begged after 5 hours of continous play 'wow this game is really fun and addictive?'

Squilliam articulated the point very astutely when he said people can be duped into buying the game through bias and media but not duped into wasting their time with it, and it perenially tops the most active game on the Xbox LIVE charts - hopefully this erases all doubt as to the game's quality.  Look past the fact that it doesn't personally appeal to you and realise that it does to lot of the gaming population.
