**spoiler alert**

having completed mass effect a while ago now - I pretty much forced my work colleague to play it as he loves a game with a deep story and now he is three quarters of the way through it we sat and had a chat about the game.  It seems that as we allocated the points on different things we have had different outcomes in points of the game, I spent all of my points on weapons, armour and medical skills where he made a point of building up his intimidation and charm.

The outcome of this is things like he managed to persuade rex to go along with the plan where un my game he had to die and he got the "famous" love scene, thus getting an achievement I didn't.  He also commented that he had quite a few different speech options through the game that I wouldn't have had.

I am now considering playing through the game again (after i'm finished with Fallout 3 and the big February is out of the way) - so I was wondering has anyone on here played through it multiple times and perhaps vouch if it's worth it?

Between me, and the guys I know, we pretty much determined the magic number is 3. You need 3 playthroughs of mass effect to truely experience it.

Things to Note:

You *really* want to experience mass effect as 3 different classes. it allows you to use different teammates and truely experience the whole game...

But at the same time, if you restart the game with your same character, you can reach higher levels, and you get more skill points. At certain points during the game (and when you make enough nice guy/jerk choices) you get free charm/intimidation points. So if you use the same character for 3 playthroughs, you can get lots of charm/intidimated without using any of your points on it.

I opted to go through as 3 different characters, but I'm about to do a 4th playthrough and go back over it as one of those 3 to experience more options.

I also recommend being the jerk on your last playthrough. His dialogue is the best by far, and you'll not want to go back after it.

I went for it first, I watched some reviews and I just saw some of the "nasty" dialogue, and it was just brilliant, I especially liked the part when I just slapped someone
